The outrageous comments and scandalous actions of Jorge Mario Bergoglio have forced a lot of traditionalists who follow the R&R (recognize and resist) position vis-a-vis the post-Conciliar popes to reconsider sedvacantism.This in turn has led a various R&R controversialists to produce a flurry of articles against the sedevacantist conclusion.

Father Anthony Cekada joins us for another episode of Trad Controversies in order to examine the basis for both of these two positions and to refute some of the more common objections to the sedevacantist position.

Father Cekada also briefly discusses some of the initial objections to his recent video, Stuck in a Rut: Anti-Sedevacantism in the Age of Bergoglio.

With the R&R position theologically on its death bed, Restoration Radio hopes this episode will provide a guiding light to those looking to find an explanation of the post-Vatican II crisis that is actually grounded in Catholic theology and doctrine.

Of all the devotions in the Church, that of the Precious Blood stands out as particularly anti-revolutionary. It was promoted in the nineteenth century by Blessed Gaspar del Bufalo, who was known as “the Hammer of Freemasons” and who suffered persecution and exile rather than be one with the French Revolution.

All’inizio degli anni Cinquanta, dopo che Israele aveva combattuto una disperata guerra di Indipendenza (o Nakba) in cui migliaia di Israeliani morirono per garantire la fondazione dello Stato, David Ben Gurion, il suo primo Primo Ministro, decise che il Paese aveva bisogno di un jolly esistenziale al fine di garantire la sua sopravvivenza. Nel 1955 incaricò il capo del suo staff, Shimon Peres, di creare un programma nucleare che avrebbe portato alla fabbricazione di un’arma nucleare.

La parte più importante di questo progetto era costituita dalla creazione di un reattore nucleare che avrebbe dovuto produrre il carburante per fare tali armi. Nel 1959, Israele iniziò la costruzione il suo reattore a Dimona. Alla fine, migliaia di lavoratori furono impiegati per la costruzione dell’impianto e, una volta completato, vi rimasero per costruire l’arsenale di 200 armi nucleari che Israele ha la fama di possedere. Stuck in a Rut: Anti-Sedevacantism in the Age of Bergoglio

THE ELECTION of Jorge Mario Bergoglio by the March 2013 conclave was a turning point in the ongoing dispute among Catholic traditionalists over the question of the pope:

• Do we “recognize” the post-Vatican II popes as true popes, but “resist” them? (The “R&R” position held by the Society of St. Pius X, Bp. Williamson, The Remnant, Catholic Family News and many others)
• Or do we treat them as public heretics who are not true popes at all? (The sedevacantist position)

As a result of Francis’ outrageous public statements and madcap antics, the R&R camp has felt obliged to produce a good number of anti-sedevacantist critiques over the past two years. I’ve received many requests to answer these critiques, and this video is my response.

The first rut for R&R is following the wrong theologians — Suarez, Cajetan and John of St. Thomas — whose teaching on a heretical pope wasrefuted by St. Robert Bellarmine and abandoned by later theologians.
